Core Responsibilities and Strategic Roles of the Ethiopian World Taekwondo Federation

1. Inclusiveness and Promoting the Sport's Reach
Working to expand Taekwondo across all regions, city administrations, schools, and institutions, ensuring it is accessible to citizens of all ages, genders, and physical abilities. Organizing annual national championships and open tournaments tailored to various age groups and skill levels.
2. Enhancing Technical Capacity and Standards (Technical Excellence)
Ensuring compliance with World Taekwondo (WT) and Kukkiwon rules and guidelines to maintain the sport's quality and international standards. Overseeing and regulating Dan/Poom promotion exams domestically, and facilitating the issuance of internationally recognized certificates for professionals.
3. Professional Capacity Building
Organizing seminars, upgrading, and refresher courses for referees, coaches, and technical officials. Developing, upgrading, and licensing refereeing and coaching qualification standards.
4. Building and Managing the National Team
Setting up the national team by scouting and recruiting high-performing athletes from domestic competitions. Facilitating training and favorable conditions for the national team to represent the country effectively and achieve successful results in the Olympics, All-Africa Games, and World Championships.
5. Digitalization and Modernized Operations
Registering and organizing data of clubs, coaches, referees, and athletes using a modern online registration platform. Promptly disseminating directives, competition invitations, and relevant sport updates to the Taekwondo community via the website and social media channels.
6. International Relations and Partnership
Working closely with World Taekwondo (WT), World Taekwondo Headquarter(Kukkiwon),the African Taekwondo Union (AFTU), the FDRE Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Ethiopian Olympic Committee, and other partner organizations. Coordinating and facilitating support and educational opportunities (Partnership Programs) obtained from international institutions for local professionals.
